I may seem like an oxymoron to most people when they learn that I'm a certified health coach who's also obsessed with pizza. Because health and wellness professionals only eat fruits and veggies, right? Not quite. Those that do know me can testify to the fact that while I care a lot about nutrition and fitness, I never let that stop me from enjoying the foods I love. Still, my relationship with food hasn't always been so balanced. After an emotional battle with anorexia as a young teenager, it took me a very long time to make peace with food and learn how to eat "normally" again. Now more than ever, we are forced into thinking that there's one tried and true way to eat and exercise due to overwhelming information shared on social media and the internet. After years of schooling and my own personal experiences, I've come to realize that what our society and social media deems as "healthy" is not always 20/20.
A healthy lifestyle doesn't have to include too-pretty-to-eat acai bowls or dipping into your savings for an expensive gym membership. Pictures of men and women on the internet with seemingly perfected physiques and pristine diets can lead us to believe that we must be doing something wrong if ours don't look quite the same. Identifying as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or paleo doesn't automatically make someone the picture of health either, contrary to what we've been told. To me, living healthily equates to eating and exercising in a way that works and feels best for you and your body.
One size does not fit all when it comes to your health.
As your health coach, I'm here to guide you in all aspects of nutrition and wellness. I'll equip you with the tools and knowledge necessary to maintain a healthy, happy, and sane lifestyle without breaking the piggy bank. Except for late night pizza, of course.
What would working with me entail? Together we'll kick bad habits to the curb, tailor a program specific to your needs and goals, and work diligently to mend your relationship with food for good. Hence the name, we will feed your intuition. By the time we're done together, you will be able to listen to your body and understand exactly what it needs, versus what society tells you it needs.
